Seven riders, led by Stephane Hauvette, (future president of the national MTB commission at the FFC), then started a mountain bike competition on an exceptional 60 km circuit between Ramatuelle and St Tropez: Le Roc d'Azur.

Je suis vraiment content. Je ne pensais pas partir tout de suite mais j’ai réussi à distancer Victor, Jordan et Daniel après le Fournel. J’ai vite pris 10 secondes d’avance. Je pensais qu’ils allaient rentrer et sur le coup je n’ai pas trop fait d’effort. Quand j’ai vu qu’ils étaient plus loin derrière, que je n’entendais plus leurs roues, j’ai vraiment tout mis dans les montées et les descentes. Il fallait que je creuse l’écart avant l’arrivée sur le plat où le terrain n’était pas facile et où il y avait du vent de face. Le sprint aurait été compliqué. Le scénario est parfait et ressemble à celui de ma victoire en 2012.

C’est une petite surprise car j’étais venue sans grande prétention juste pour me faire plaisir, confie la Vosgienne, médaillée de bronze des championnats du monde VTT marathon en 2016. J’avais eu un gros trou après les championnats du monde de cet été et cela ne fait qu’une semaine que je suis à peu près en forme. Aujourd’hui, j’ai passé une bonne partie de la course seule, un peu en retrait. J’étais un peu perdue dans la boue, dans mes pensées. Et puis je suis revenue et j’ai pris la tête dans le col du Bougnon pour ne plus la lâcher. Je n’avais jamais gagné ici même en Espoirs alors forcément ça fait très plaisir.
