A 100 km mountain-bike excursion from Mont Lachens to the sea.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 900 maximum.
LOCATION: From the top of Mont LACHENS, the highest summit in Var (1,715 metres), to the beach of La Garonnette San Peïre in Les Issambres. A 94-km mountain-bike trip with just 11 km on the tarmac and the remaining 83 km on paths, trails and forest tracks.
AIM: To take mountain-bikers exploring our department in all its geological and botanical diversity, on a day-long discovery from North to South. The itinerary gives an overview of Var, from the Alpine foothills to the Esterel and Maures mountains, the Argens plane and, finally, the sea.
The proceeds from this day excursion will be used to fund a number of solidarity campaigns both in France and abroad, particularly for water-management and schooling projects in Madagascar.
TYPE OF EVENT: Supervised mountain-bike excursion in safe conditions and at the chosen pace of each individual, on a fully waymarked itinerary. Participants will follow some stony paths, not all of which are stabilised, as well as some beautiful tracks and long-distance trails. This excursion is for experienced, self-sufficient mountain-bikers.
Participants must wear helmets, respect the environment and observe the Highway Code.
DISTANCE: A 100 km excursion from the top of Mont Lachens to the sea (open to all from youth category upwards).
